I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which i was very impressed by and thought it was actually a better movie than it is a book. Luna was particularly good.

whereas the original is subversive and challenges preconceived notions and stereotypes
this film is a memetic mess which eventually has the "rightful" pretty boy king gaining power and Shrek ends up in his "rightful" place -- the swamp -- which is a complete betrayal of the original movie -- and thus the old orthodoxy which the original challenged and overturned is triumphant
