I drink the poison
the dripping chittering yew
sliding through my head

the wasp husk, rotting
and mouldy, stirs - out creeps fear
insect sharp - swollen

to live without hope
step by step - renounce desire
and endure the void

hybridization
interzones and border guards
heroes and journeys

knitted together
with plausible yarns - the lies
of fidelity

the long roots of teeth
the coal industry ripped out
job transformation

wind on the river
blowing ripples upstream - light -
dappled photon bounce

a central black hole
fire, ice and isolation
my galaxy - home

waning gibbous moon
the spring tide rising - July
and the rain washes

to rip a whisper
from a dream of longing sand
the waves dissolved

the blood and river

I feel the river
fingers dipped into the water -
Soar, Trent, Humber, sea

cogs in the machine
true, yet we can maneuver -
trapped with space to move -
if one moves - it ripples out
trapped - not powerless

Winter passed to Spring
the grass where crocuses grew
shaved and yellowing

mould on the cracked tiles
underwear hanging to dry
water stained mirror

dry sticks and old bones
desert winds and stalagmites
prison camps - scarlet

summer morning light
photon rivers of gladness
butter and warm bread

revisit an old book
taste the herbs half-remembered
fresh colour again
